The
Family business was founded by Leopold Boeck in 1960. Leo and his wife Erika
learnt the trade in a chocolate factory in Austria. He then moved their
family to Australia in 1955, where after working for a number of leading
confectioners and making chocolates under his New Farm house he was determined
to continue his love of working with candy. He rented a small space in an
existing confectionery factory at Wynnum (opposite the Waterloo Bay Hotel).
His dream finally beame a reality when he bought his own property, an old
cow shed on Redland Bay Road, Capalaba in 1964 and transformed it into "Kinderland
Confectionery"
It
was here that Leo, Erika and their family worked hard to build a strong
business and teach their skills to their son Siggy. In 1982 Kinderland relocated
to a brand new purpose built factory in Underwood and where it remains today
in its 40+ years of operation.
With
the passing of Leo and Erika, the business passed to Siggy Boeck and with
the help of third generation Andrea (his daughter), this passion is ensured
of continuance and to be taught through generations to come.
With
such a history, Kinderland has seen many children and grandchildren eating
our lollipops, rosy apples, or sucking on a
our boiled lollies... after all our lollies bring back
the child in all of us...enjoy!
